Plutella xylostella is the most important pest in broccoli cultivation, causing significant increases in production costs, by affecting the quality of the product that is rejected for export. In Mexico, the control of this pest is based mainly on chemical pesticides, which increases the presence of residues in the edible product, as well as the development of resistance to pesticides. Therefore, resistance tests were carried out to determine the susceptibility of third instar larvae of P. xylostella to spinosad, abamectin, fipronil, cypermethrin, lambda cyhalothrin, imidacloprid, indoxacarb and chlorphenapyr on six populations of the central Mexico and one susceptible line. The results show that the populations of San Luis de la Paz and Valle de Santiago present resistance problems for cypermethrin, while the rest of the populations show a tendency to develop resistance against this insecticide. For the rest of the pesticides evaluated, there are no resistance problems in third instar larvae of any of the populations under study.
