Summary:

Tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV), transmitted in a persistent manner by trips (Thysanoptera: Thuipidae), causes important economic losses in some Spanish vegetable crops, such as pepper. Because of the low efficiency of the cultural practices to control this virus, it is suggested the use of resistant pepper cultivars as the best method to reduce the losses caused by TSWV. In this work it is proposed a breeding program to obtain pepper varieties resistant to TSWV.
