Phytophtora capsici Leonnian, P. nicotianae Breda de Haan and Meloidogyne incognita (Kofoid and White) Chitwood are the major soilborne pathogens in greenhouses of Murcia Region (southeastern Spain), where pepper crop is a repeated monoculture lasting between eight to nine months for the last 25 years in more than 90 % of the surface. The effect of biosolarization with rapeseed cake (TC), and a mix of beer bagasse and fresh sheep manure (BC+EFO) on P. capsici, P. nicotianae and M. incognita has been evaluated in three greenhouses in comparison with the application of chemical disinfectants and with no soil disinfection. Biosolarization with both amendments significantly reduced the viability of oospores of P. capsici for two soil depth (15 cm and 30 cm), the natural inoculum of P. nicotianae and the incidence of P. nicotianae (% of dead plants) and M. incognita (galls index and % infested plants) whether the treatment was started in August or in September, and in a lower proportion if it was started in October, at the same level as the chemical disinfectans (1,3‑dichloropropene + chloropicrin or dazomet). Biosolarization with TC or BC+EFO improved commercial yield between 120 % (greenhouses with low population of M. incognita or P. nicotianae) and 170 % (greenhouses with high populations of nematode and the oomycete). Biosolarization with both byproducts is an effective way for soil disinfection for peppers crops, on dates compatible with the usual crop cycle in the Murcia Region.
