Summary:
A study was made of the falling syndrome in 737 animals fought during the years 1991, 1992 and 1993 in a range of first and second class fighting‑rings.
The different falls observed were classified into six degrees according to the severity of the symptoms and the frequency of occurrence of each one of this degrees was noted.
In 99.56% of the animals observed there was some degree of fall during their fights, howere, only in 66.57% of the bulls does the falling syndrome represent a genuine problem in that it affects the normal flow of the fight. Moreover, only 15.54% of them showed severe degrees of fall with recumbency or contact of the body with the ground of 20 or more seconds of duration.
