Summary:

The objective of this study was to analyze the nutritional properties and evaluate the in vitro anthelmintic activity of T. diversifolia on Haemonchus contortus eggs. A phytochemical profile, a proximal analysis and an FTIR T were performed to know the types of compounds, chemical composition and functional groups present in the samples. In addition, digestibility tests were performed out in situ. The highest protein content was found in leaves (34.6 %), in the same way, it presented the highest digestibility rate with (97.6 %). The highest content of acid detergent fiber corresponded to the stems with 37.5 %. The functional group detected were hydroxyl (‑OH), carbonyls (C=O), typical of the compounds observed in the phytochemical profile. The anthelmintic activity of the extracts obtained from T. diversifolia were subjected to the egg hatching test on H. contortus. The extracts were tested at concentration of 75 µg/mL, 150 µg/mL, 300 µg/mL and 600 µg/mL. The results of the hatching inhibition test show that the flower extract obtained highest percentage of inhibition 100 % compared to 90 % of the leaf extract at the concentration of 600 µg/mL. The corresponding LC90 values were 107.3 µg/mL and 464.1 µg/mL respectively. Nutritional properties of T. diversifolia as a function of proteins and the anthelmintic activity observed in aqueous extracts show the high potential that it represents for feeding ruminants health in the Mexican tropics.
